Thinking about…
One of the first members of the artists’ association Hoorn a.s. (that ‘and surroundings’ extends as far as at least Tilburg apparently) has come up with the idea of choosing a work from those members and having the other members respond to it with a work. No one else had any influence on the clutch. Everything was shown at the ‘Encounters’ exhibition in De Boterhal in Hoorn in honor of the association’s 50th anniversary. The Boterhal is the permanent operating base. I was handed a work by Paul Stap. Polychromed wood which he found in his backyard. Paul is (has been) a passionate diver.
‘Thinking of…’ is my reaction to the work of Paul Stap and was therefore shown at the exhibition.

Family portrait II

Through a kind of visual taste exploration, I questioned the customer about his family members and himself and thus finally chose chairs from the birth years of the five family members that match more or less with their character in terms of appearance. The table comes from the interior of this Breda family.
Theatrum Anatomicum

A chair in ‘Evidence based surgery‘. When I received an assignment from that corner, I immediately thought of the Anatomical Theater. That is where medical knowledge was shared and in that sense a nice starting point in this regard. I turned the benches into chair backs. Reverse seats show their intestines.

A second child! This will of course come to the fore. There is already one child that is also pulled by the parental train. Where else do you end up if one of the two parents is employed at the railways?

And then a descendant presents itself. It will be the radiant center of what is now called the family. With traits of both parents that speaks.
Chair

What do you give as a present when your other half gets a chair? Of course a chair. It was up to me to fix it. An enormous amount of knowledge needs to find shelter. Can’t the seat also be seen as the roof of a chair? Then all that knowledge can accumulate under that roof or brain pan. Obviously, in such a position, that knowledge must also be shared from time to time and this is also provided for.
